Guy Redman

HOD Guy Redman completed his studies at the University of Natal in Durban and Pietermaritzburg (later renamed to the University of KwaZulu-Natal), where he achieved his BSc; BSc Honours and MSc- degrees.
He started his professional career as a Curator of Arthropoda at the Natal Museum in Pietermaritzburg in 2001. In 2003 he moved to the eThekwni Municipality to take on the role of Director of the Durban Natural Science Museum. In 2009 he was appointed as the Deputy Head of Parks Recreations and Culture in the eThekwini Municipality, responsible for Museums, Art Galleries, Libraries, Heritage and Performing Arts & Culture.
In 2017, Mr Redman was appointed as the Chief Director of Cultural Affairs at DCAS, which meant a move to Cape Town. He has been at the department ever since then and was appointed as HOD in 2021.
He leads with the Western Cape Government Values always in mind and believes in focusing on the long game. He is leading DCAS to achieve long term sustainability, while bringing hope to all those the department serves.
